Trade attaches should be asked to increase exports

National Assembly's Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs has said that appropriate measures should be taken for enhancing the role of trade councilors to explore new markets for increasing exports

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News / Online - 27th March, 2019) National Assembly's Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs has said that appropriate measures should be taken for enhancing the role of trade councilors to explore new markets for increasing exports .The meeting of Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs was held at Parliament House under Chairmanship of Malik Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, MNA on Wednesday.The Committee was briefed on the working and performance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its attached departments and subordinate offices.

The Special Secretary (Administration) apprised the Committee about the organizational structure of various Divisions of the Ministry and their working. He also apprised the Committee about the Pakistan Missions abroad and the services offered therein to the Pakistani Diaspora.The meeting appreciated the working and performance of the Ministry and its Missions aboard. The Committee was of the view that Pakistan Missions had played an indispensible role in promoting peace and projecting Pakistan's positive image aboard.

The Committee stressed the need for enhancing public outreach at national as well as international level. The Committee also suggested for pursuing cases of Pakistani prisoners detained in Jails in foreign Countries through extending them financial and legal assistance.The Special Secretary assured the Committee for prompt compliance of the directions of the Committee. He informed that Pakistanis jailed aboard on petty crimes are extended legal assistance and their repatriation is ensured by the missions.

He also informed that Trade Representatives in Pakistan Missions had already been activated and various agreements for export of different products have been inked.The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, MNAs Muhammad Ameer Sultan, Syed Fakhar Imam, Munaza Hassan, Fazal Muhammad Khan, Maleeka Ali Bokhari, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Ali Nawaz Shah, Ali Zahid, Mehnaz Akber Aziz, Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Maiza Hameed, Hina Rabbani Khar, Abdul Shakoor, Special Secretary M/o Foreign Affairs and Senior Officers of the concerned department.
