Over 1,000 Syrian Refugees Return Home From Abroad Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

Over 1,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said in its daily bulletin on Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th March, 2019) Over 1,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said in its daily bulletin on Wednesday.

"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 1,046 refugees returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 164 people (including 49 women and 84 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints; 882 people (including 265 women and 450 children) returned from Jordan via the Nassib checkpoint," the bulletin says.

According to the bulletin, 72 internally displaced persons have also returned home within past 24 hours.

In addition, in the past 24 hours, the Russian military has carried out a humanitarian operation in the province of Aleppo, delivering 500 food sets with a total weight of over 2 tonnes to local residents.

Meanwhile, the Syrian engineering units continue their mine-clearance operations. Over the past 24 hours, they have found and destroyed 26 explosive devices.

Russia, alongside Turkey and Iran, is the guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus by providing support to the government in combating terrorist groups operating in the country and providing humanitarian aid to civilians.
