Nestlé Pakistan Partners with Clean Green Pakistan initiative

Nestlé Pakistan has partnered with the Ministry of Climate Change, Pakistan for making its contribution to preserving the environment.

Islamabad, (Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2019) Clean Green Pakistan is a comprehensive movement kicked-off by the Ministry of Climate Change which focuses on liquid and waste management, hygiene awareness, access to drinking water, tree plantation, solid waste management. Through this initiative, Nestlé aims to contribute towards environmental well-being by engaging the public and raising awareness.

Nestlé Pakistan has partnered with the Ministry of Climate Change, Pakistan for making its contribution to preserving the environment. An MoU has been signed that will be followed by Nestlé’s efforts to align its activities with the Clean and Green Pakistan campaign that was launched in October 2018 by Prime Minister, Imran Khan.

The initiative took off with a cleanup and tree plantation activity at Jallo Park, Lahore, the purpose of the activity is to create a sense of ownership and civic responsibility amongst the citizens of Pakistan. It is to encourage them to take responsibility and play their part in reducing the plastic waste and environmental pollution.

Malik Amin Aslam, Advisor to Prime Minister of Pakistan for Climate Change, Babar Hayat Tarar – Additional Secretary, Ministry of Climate Change and Hammad Naqi Khan, Chief Executive Officer -WWF Pakistan attended the first plantation activity.

Malik Amin Aslam spoke a little about the initiative and expressed how this could only be achieved if everyone took part in it as it is a team effort; “The Clean Green Pakistan movement is about changing the behavior, starting with school going children to adults, to get them to think about their role with nature and what they can do to protect it.”

“We have a target of planting 10 million trees in the next five years and all of you have to be ready in helping achieve this target as this is not just about the government or the Ministry of Climate Change, it is also about the citizens of this nation.”

“I thank Nestlé Pakistan for leading this movement with us and this is the first step for us in achieving a Clean Green Pakistan so I thank you for your MoU, for your commitment and I hope that we can expand this as it moves further.” He took the time to thank Nestlé for allowing this to happen for the country and showed his gratitude for the movement.
