Almost 950 Syrians Return Home From Jordan, Lebanon Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th March, 2019) A total of 947 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Sunday.

"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 947 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 288 people ([including] 87 women and 147 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints; 659 people ([including] 198 women and 336 children) returned from Jordan via the Nassib checkpoint," the center said in its daily bulletin.

Moreover, 579 internally displaced Syrians returned to their homes as well, the center noted.

Syrian engineering units removed mines from 3.3 hectares (8.1 acres) of land and destroyed 26 explosive devices, the Russian military added.

The Russian Chechen Republic's Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation carried out one humanitarian delivery in Aleppo, distributing one tonne of bread to local residents, the bulletin said.

A non-profit humanitarian organization delivered over 1.1 tonne of medical equipment and other items to the western Syrian post city of Tartus.

Almost 167,500 Syrian refugees have returned from Jordan and Lebanon since last July, according to the Russian military. Yet millions more are still seeking refuge in over 40 countries worldwide.
