Orbital Constellation Of Russian GLONASS Navigation System Restored - Information Center

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th March, 2019) All 24 GLONASS satellites that the orbital constellation of the Russian satellite navigation system needs to ensure global coverage are once again operational as two satellites, which were removed for technical maintenance, have been put back into service, the Information and Analysis Center for Positioning, Navigation and Timing of the Russian Central Research Institute for Machine Building (TsNIIMash) said on Sunday.

On Wednesday, the information center said that GLONASS satellite No.745 had been removed from service for planned technical maintenance, while another navigation satellite, No.720, had been removed for unscheduled technical maintenance.

According to TsNIIMash, satellite No.745 became operational on Saturday, and GLONASS-M No.720 was put back into service on Sunday.

The GLONASS constellation comprises a total of 26 satellites, including 24 operational devices, one spare satellite and one currently in flight tests phase.
