Gazprom Ready to Join Gas Transport Consortium with Ukraine on Kiev's Initiative - Miller

Russia's energy giant Gazprom is ready to consider Ukrainian proposals for participation in a joint gas transportation consortium, the company's CEO Alexey Miller said Friday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) Russia's energy giant Gazprom is ready to consider Ukrainian proposals for participation in a joint gas transportation consortium, the company's CEO Alexey Miller said Friday.

Viktor Medvedchuk, chairman of the political council of Ukraine's Opposition Platform For Life, said earlier in the day at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow that Kiev is interested in continuing Russian gas transit via Ukraine through the creation of a gas transportation consortium.

"As to the proposal on the consortium ... You know, we have always supported the idea of such a project. And if we receive a proposal from the Ukrainian side to hold talks [on this issue], we will hold such negotiations and become participants in the gas transportation consortium in Ukraine," Miller said.

He added that this project will help increase the reliability and stability of gas transit through Ukraine for consumers.
