Lebanese, Cypriot Troops May Hold Joint Military Drills - Army

The commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), Gen. Joseph Aoun, met with the chief of the Cypriot National Guard, Lieut. Gen. Ilias Leontaris, to discuss military cooperation between the two countries and prospects for holding joint military exercises, the Lebanese army said in a communique release on Monday

BEIRUT (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th March, 2019) The commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), Gen. Joseph Aoun, met with the chief of the Cypriot National Guard, Lieut. Gen. Ilias Leontaris, to discuss military cooperation between the two countries and prospects for holding joint military exercises, the Lebanese army said in a communique release on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Aoun arrived in Nicosia for an official visit.

"The sides discussed the question related to the maritime borders and strengthening of the military cooperation, including the holding joint military drills," the communique read.

Aoun and Leontaris also spoke about the geopolitical situation surrounding Cyprus and tasks facing the republic, according to the statement.
