Sindh Govt To Protect Women Rights At All Costs: Shahla Raza

KARACHI (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 17th March, 2019) Sindh Minister for Women Development along with other women representatives of Sindh Assembly and NGOs represented Sindh at 63 CSW-2019 as first week of the sixty third session of the Commission on the Status of Women concluded at the Untied Nations Headquarters in New York.Former Deputy Speaker and MPA Syeda Shehla Raza while representing Sindh province at the prestigious event described the status and state of affairs of women in Sindh.

She explicated that the elected government of Pakistan People's Party in Sindh was striving hard to ameliorate the status of women by adopting concrete measures and introducing appropriate legislation in the provincial legislature. She said that all this was being done to look after and protect the basic rights of the women in the province.Syeda Shehla Raza has said that in accordance with the wisdom and farsighted vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto especially about the rights of women in Pakistan, the Pakistan People's Party had enacted pertinent historical legislation for the women of the province.

She mentioned the passed laws encompassed all the relevant issues being faced by the women in our society such as Early Childhood Marriage, Harassment at Workplace and Curbing of Domestic Violence against women.She further explained that two bills - one regarding the establishment of a commission for women - were being finalized to bringing further change in the lives of the women of the province. Syeda Shehla Raza aslo while addressing a session called, "Women in Parliament and Challenges they face being Women Parliamentarian", shared the data and views on significant role of women in Parliament.

While addressing another gathering of the prestigious event CSW-63/ 2019, Syeda Shehla Raza who was heading the delegation of Sindh province said that it was a moment of proud for her to represent Pakistan at such a highest level. She said that the Pakistan People's Party led government in Sindh was also working on curbing completely the incidents involving acid throwing on women.Syeda Shahla Raza mentioned that Chairman Pakistan People's Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on number of occasion in the past had directed that the rights of the women should be protected in the province at any cost.

She said that being a visionary young leader Chairman People's People Party strongly believed that no society could ever progressed without recognizing and acknowledging the due status of the women in the society.Besides the main event of CSW -63, Syeda Shehla Raza and other members of the delegation of Sindh also represented the country in other events organized at a tangent. These peripheral events the theme of which was based on the Social Protection System - Access for Women in Asian Perspective were hosted by Pakistan, Iran and Indonesia.

Syeda Shehla Raza the Minister Women Development Department Sindh also met with Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nation Ms. Maleeha Lodhi, who hosted a dinner for the women parliamentarians from Sindh at Pakistan House. Pakistan's Women rights and Chairwoman of the National Commission on the Status of Woman Ms. Khawar Mumtaz was also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Syeda Shehla Raza deliberated on the state of affairs a propos the gender equality issues in Pakistan.

Ms Maleeha Lodhi while appreciating the role of women in Pakistan opined that the country was providential to have such competent parliamentarians who were representing the country on many such a prestigious platforms like CSW-63 in a befitting manner.Syeda Shehla Raza has eulogizing the sixty third session of the Commission on the Status of Women the CSW-63/2019 event, the meeting of her delegation with the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Ms.

Maleeha Lodhi and other delegates attended the meeting, said that it was a great opportunity for her delegation to exchange the cultural values of Pakistan including cuisine, trade opportunities in the country with the other nations. She said that through this informal diplomacy an opportunity was fully availed to tell the world about the great values and opportunities in Pakistan.During the first busy week of the event the women parliamentarians from Sindh also attended various sessions and conferences of CSW-63/2019 including high level interactive dialogue during which the accelerating implementation of the Beijing declaration and platform for action, investing in gender equality parliaments ensuring social protection by protection, public service , infrastructure, Deliver for women and Girls by inter- parliamentary union, inverting gender equality parliament ensuring social protection, women in decision do make a difference etc.

The visiting delegation including Ms. Sadia Jawed MPA, Ms. Nuzhat Shirin , chairperson, Status of Women Commission Sindh, and representatives of NGOs from Sindh had also attended "breaking Stereotypes Muslim Women as Agents of Change" organized by Pakistan Co sponsored Iran, Turkey and Indonesia. With many other side events and session during the two week CSW-63/2019.During the first week of the CSW63(2019) representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world attended various sessions.
