Condemns arrest of Sindh Assembly speaker and raid at his house. Asks NAB chairman to take action against officials involved in raid
KARACHI- (Pakistan Point News- 13th March, 2019) PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has criticized the National Accountability Bureau, saying the anti-graft body has turned into a government tool for political victimization.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he condemned the arrest of Sindh Assembly speaker by the NAB, declared allegation against Aga Siraj Durrani fake and demanded courts take action against the arrest of a respected and senior politician.
“I condemn the NAB in strongest possible words. NAB has turned into a bureau of political engineering,” said the young chairman of PPP who earlier went to the Assembly to express solidarity with the speaker and later presided over the meeting of the provincial cabinet.
The PPP chairman said NAB has no evidence against Durrani and raiding the Speaker’s house after arrest proved it. The raid, he added, carried out to find evidence, but also to falsify and plant it.
He expressed disappoint over NAB chairman who had not taken action over raiding the house of a senior politician by NAB officials.
"I am sad to say that the chairman NAB has till today not taken any action against this very serious accusation, on this violation of human rights, on this violence against women ... no action was taken," he said.
Saying his mother, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, raised the issue in the charter of democracy, he maintained NAB was such an institution that even if "an angel was made its chairman", only political engineering would take place in the institution.
