MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th March, 2019) Low-cost airline Norwegian Air Shuttle expects compensation from Boeing after grounding its 737 MAX fleet in the aftermath of the deadly crash of this type of plane in Ethiopia, the airline's press service told Sputnik on Wednesday.

The Norwegian company, which has 18 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in its fleet, grounded the planes on Wednesday based on the European safety advice, while one of its flights, bound for Tel Aviv and operated by a passenger jet of this model, had to return back to Stockholm.

"We expect the manufacturer of the aircraft to compensate for the damage it caused to our reputation, but also bringing inconvenience to our passengers," the press service said.

The press service, however, did not provide any further details, including the exact sum of condensation requested from Boeing.

On Sunday, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, operated by Ethiopian Airlines, crashed minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. All 157 people from more than 30 countries aboard the airplane died. That was the second fatal incident involving this type of plane in just five months. The first one occurred in Indonesia on October 29 last year and claimed 189 lives.

The European Union, China, India, and many other countries have suspended flights of Boeing 737 MAX jets and banned them from their airspace after the incident in Ethiopia. Russia's S7 airline has also suspended the flights of this type of plane.
