The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) said in a statement on Tuesday that it sent a request to US aircraft manufacturer Boeing for recommendations on further safe operation of its 737 MAX airplanes following a deadly crash involving a jet of the same model in Ethiopia

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th March, 2019) The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) said in a statement on Tuesday that it sent a request to US aircraft manufacturer Boeing for recommendations on further safe operation of its 737 MAX airplanes following a deadly crash involving a jet of the same model in Ethiopia.

The crash involving Ethiopian Airlines' Flight ET 302 occurred in the morning of March 10, minutes after the Nairobi-bound plane took off from the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa. All 157 people from over 30 countries who were on board the Boeing were killed. The causes of the accident are yet unknown. According to the airline, the plane was well-maintained.

"Relevant requests on behalf of Rosaviatsiya regarding recommendations on the further safe operation of Boeing 737 MAX 8 were sent to the Boeing representative office in Russia and to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), representing the country, which designed and manufactured the aircraft," the statement said.

Rosaviatsiya also noted that two aircraft of this model were operated by Russia's Globus Airlines.

According to the statement, responding to Rosaviatsiya's request, Boeing said that all crew members re-studied the airworthiness directive issued after the crash of another Boeing 737 MAX 8, operated by Indonesia's Lion Air, on October 29, 2018. Moreover, the crews are attending additional technical briefings and training.
