Flydubai to still use Boeing 737 despite deadly plane crash in Ethiopia

In his statement on Monday, a Flydubai spokesperson "We are monitoring the situation and continue to be in touch with Boeing.”

Dubai (Pakistan Point News – 11th March, 2019) While China and Ethiopia ordered all Chinese airlines to ground their Boeing 737 Max 8 planes after one of the aircraft crashed in Ethiopia, Flydubai is confident in the airworthiness of its Boeing 737 plane.

Flydubai operates a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft, including the MAX 8.

In his statement on Monday, a Flydubai spokesperson "We are monitoring the situation and continue to be in touch with Boeing.”

“The safety of our passengers and crew is our first priority,” he said.

Earlier, China's aviation authority and Ethiopian Airlines and Cayman Airways decided to ground their 737 MAX 8 jets following the crash. Both Ethiopian Airlines and Chinese regulators have suspended commercial operations of the 737 MAX 8 aircraft until further notice.

The Nairobi-bound Boeing 737 MAX 8 of the Ethiopian Airlines crashed early Sunday, minutes after taking off from Addis Ababa.

All 157 people from over 30 countries who were on board were killed. The causes of the accident are yet unknown. According to the airline, the plane was well-maintained.

Just over four months have passed since another Boeing 737 MAX 8, operated by Indonesian Lion Air, crashed into the Java Sea shortly after departing from the airport. The accident claimed the lives of 189 people. The black box retrieved after the crash revealed that the sensors of the plane had been showing incorrect speed and altitude readings.
