Ali Zafar wants criminal proceeding against Meesha over false allegations

In his petition, Ali Zafar stated that the statement filed by Meesha Shafi is full of contradictions

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 10th March, 2019) Renowned singer and actor Ali Zafar has filed a petition against fellow artist Meesha Shafi for submitting an allegedly fake affidavit against him in the civil court.

In his petition in Sessions Court, Ali Zafar stated that the statement filed by Meesha Shafi is full of contradictions related to the dates and sequence of events.

The petition stated there is a contradiction in the date mentioned on the affidavit and the account of the events shared in it.

Meesha was in Pakistan when she claims the incident happened while it actually happened abroad a later date.

"The events that Meesha promised and claimed took place afterwards," the petition stated.

Ali Zafar filed his petition in a Sessions court against Meesha for criminal proceedings over her false and fraudulent statements.

Meanwhile, Meesha's counsel has requested adjournment and did not question the witnesses presented by Ali Zafar in the civil court.

Meesha Shafi had alleged her colleague Ali Zafar of sexual harassment in a tweet in June, 2018.

Meesha said that she is sharing this because she believes that by speaking out about her own experience of sexual harassment, she will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society.

Using the #Metoo hashtag, Shafi added that it is not easy to speak out but it is harder to stay silent. “My conscience will not allow it anymore,” she added.

Meesha had filed a complaint against Ali Zafar under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2010 while Ali Zafar had also sent a legal notice to co-artist Meesha Shafi for her allegations.

The Teefa in Trouble star had filed a defamation suit in a court in Lahore through his lawyer, asking for an apology from Meesha Shafi for levelling baseless allegations and pay Rs1 billion in damages.
