Folk Singer Pathanay Khan remembered on death anniversary

He sung Kafis, folk songs in Sindhi and Saraiki and Ghazals during his long career of singing

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News – 9th March 2019) The 19th death anniversary of the known folk singer of Pakistan, Pathanay Khan, has been observed on Saturday.

Famous for his Kafi singing in mystical circles in Pakistan and India, Pathanay Khan also sung ghazals of legendary urdu poets. His specialty was folk singing in Saraiki and Sindhi languages.

Late Khan sung poetry of poetry of Baba Bullay Shah, Khuwaja Ghulam Fareed Mithankoti, Mehar Ali Shah and many other Sufi poets during his long career of singing.

He was born in 1926 in the village Basti Tambu Wali, situated in the heart of the Thal Desert, several miles from Kot Addu and also died in the same native town on March 9, 2000. The government awarded him with Pride of Performance in 1979.
