Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan resigns over anti-Hindu remarks

Samsam Bukhari to replace Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan: Reports

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 5th March, 2019) Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan has resigned from his position.

The Chief Minister House has confirmed the reports.

The notification in this regard will be issued shortly.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Samsam Bukhari is likely to replace Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had reportedly demanded a resignation from Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan.

Sources in Punjab CM Office said that the chief minister had demanded a resignation from the provincial minister over his derogatory remarks against the Hindu community.

Sources said that Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan was earlier warned upon complaints against him.

However, with his latest remarks against the Hindu community, the provincial minister was called at the CM office and was directed to tender his resignation.

PTI’s Ramesh Kumar had also hinted towards Fayyaz Chohan’s resignation. He said that those giving such statements should be taught a lesson.

Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan has landed himself in hot water for making remarks against the Hindu community.

The outspoken minister has often been a target of criticism over his certain remarks and this time it was upon his remarks against the Hindus.

A video of the minister had surfaced where he referred to the Hindus as "cow urine-drinking people".

"We are Muslims and we have a flag, the flag of Maula Alia's bravery, and flag of Hazrat Umara's valour. You don't have that flag; it isn't in your hands," Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan had said.

"Don't operate under the delusion that you are seven times better than us. What we have, you can't have, you idol-worshippers," he said in a video that went viral on the social media.

These remarks were met with harsh criticism as nobody is ready to tolerate such remarks against any religious minority in Pakistan.

The PTI had also condemned his remarks.

Special Assistant to prime minister Naeem ul Haque said that the derogatory and insulting remarks against the Hindu community by Fayyaz Chohan demand strict action.

He said that the PTI government will not tolerate this nonsense from a senior member of the government or from anyone. Action will be taken after consulting the Chief Minister, he said.

Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan had then apologised over his derogatory remarks against the Hindu community.

Clarifying his comments, the provincial minister said that he was only referring to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian media.
