The annual NPC session traditionally opens with a speech by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who reads a report on the results of the work of the Chinese government in 2018, and also outline the main tasks for 2019, to the delegates.
About 3,000 parliamentarians from all over the country will have to consider and adopt the most important proposals and decisions that will determine the country's development for the next 12 months, and they will also vote on a number of new draft laws in the next 10 days.
The members of the Chinese parliament will also hear a plan for the social and economic development of the country for 2019, a report on the implementation of central and local budgets for 2018, a budget plan and defense budget for 2019. In addition, the session will review the report on the work of the NPC Standing Committee, the report on the work of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Supreme People's Court and other issues of China's social and economic development.
The NPC session will close on March 15 with the traditional press conference of the Chinese premier.
