MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd March, 2019) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire recorded 13 truce breaches in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side registered 19 ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria said on Saturday.

"Over the past 24 hours, the Russian side of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 13 cases of firing [in Syria] in the provinces of Idlib (6), Latakia (4) and Hama (3). The Turkish side has registered 19 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Latakia (10), Hama (4), Idlib (4) and Aleppo (1)," the center said in its daily bulletin.

The center carried out one humanitarian action in the northwestern Syrian village of Aramo in Latakia Province, distributing 500 food sets with a total weight of over 2 tonnes.

The ministry also noted that in the past 24 hours, no new ceasefire agreements were signed. The total number of settlements that have signed the agreement remains 2,518 and the total number of armed formations that have declared their commitment to observe the ceasefire remains 234.

As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that have been seized by terrorists since 2011, it is now focused on repatriating 5.6 million refugees, who according to the UN Refugee Agency, fled to neighboring countries. Part of the efforts to secure a peace process consist of negotiating ceasefire agreements with illegally armed groups and settlement representatives throughout the country.
