MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st March, 2019) The illegal economic blockade of Venezuela, which is the main reason for the dire humanitarian situation in the country, should be lifted, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said on Friday, blaming the United States for deliberately creating a humanitarian crisis in the Bolivarian republic.
"Venezuela only needs the illegal blockade the economic, social blockade, which prevents food supplies, medicines from being delivered to our country, prevents us from producing these goods to be lifted. Here is the reason for the humanitarian crisis, which is a crisis created artificially by the United States that steals our assets," Rodriguez said at a press conference following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
According to the Venezuelan vice president, Washington's actions constitute an "armed robbery."
"Now, there is a sea blockade in place, which impedes the deliveries [of products and medicines] to the country.[The United States] is so intolerant that it artificially creates a humanitarian crisis," Rodriguez said, calling on the international community to lift the illegal blockade.
