Simonyan on Western Reporters' Meltdown After Sputnik's Question to Trump: Get Used to It

Sputnik and RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan, commenting on Western journalists' strong reaction to US President Donald Trump answering a question from a Sputnik correspondent, said "get used to it."

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th February, 2019) Sputnik and RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan, commenting on Western journalists' strong reaction to US President Donald Trump answering a question from a Sputnik correspondent, said "get used to it."

The correspondent addressed her question to Trump at Thursday's press conference following his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. A number of journalists remarked about the exchange on Twitter, with some of them branding Sputnik as "propaganda."

"US journalists are in a meltdown on Twitter, in righteous anger over the fact that their president dared reply to Sputnik's question at a briefing in Hanoi. My friends, you best not worry but [instead] get used to it," Simonyan wrote on Twitter.

CNN correspondent Jim Acosta noted that Chinese and Russian "state media" managed to ask their questions, adding to a previous tweet where he pointed out that the US president "largely steered clear of WH press corps."

During the press conference, the Sputnik correspondent asked whether Trump addressed the issue of possible inspections at North Korea's nuclear sites during his summit with Kim. The president replied saying that the United States would be able to carry out inspections at the nuclear sites easily and successfully.

A number of Western politicians, including those in the United States, the United Kingdom and France, have repeatedly accused Sputnik of spreading propaganda, albeit without providing any evidence. RIA Global LLC, the US company that produces content for the Sputnik news agency, Sputnik radio's partner Reston Translator as well as RT America, have had to register as "foreign agents" upon the demand of the US Justice Department.

Simonyan and Russian officials have time and again slammed the allegations against Russian media and the pressure put on the outlets abroad.
