UNITED NATIONS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th February, 2019) The United Nations welcomes the latest meetings between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Vietnam and will pay attention to the results of the summit, UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said in a press briefing on Wednesday."We very much welcome the meeting between the leaders of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the United States, and we will be watching overnight and tomorrow for the outcome," Dujarric told reporters.
Trump and Kim are holding meetings in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi on Wednesday and Thursday, following an earlier summit in Singapore last June.
At their Singapore summit, Trump and Kim pledged to make effort to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, and this time they are expected to discuss concrete steps that would achieve this goal.
The White House said earlier on Wednesday that Trump and Kim would have an agreement signing ceremony at the conclusion of their second summit in Hanoi.
