LONDON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th February, 2019) The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) welcomes the reelection of the country's President Muhammadu Buhari as, from its point of view, he will ensure the industry's stability, NNPC Group Managing Director Maikanti Kachalla Baru told Sputnik on Wednesday."I want to congratulate my boss, Muhammadu Buhari, the president of Nigeria, on his clear success in the polls to clench the presidency. I have to welcome him, he is my boss. It is very good news for the Nigerian petroleum industry, because we have continuity," Baru said on the sidelines of the International Petroleum Week Summit in London.
The NNPC representative added that he did not expect any production disruptions in Nigeria as a result of Buhari's reelection and disturbances feared by many industry analysts.
The presidential election was held in Nigeria on Saturday and, earlier on Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission announced Buhari's victory with a total of 15,191,847 votes, which is almost 4 million more than the number of votes gained by his main opponent, Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People's Democratic Party.
