HANOI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th February, 2019) US President Donald Trump arrived late on Tuesday to the JW Marriott Hotel in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi where he will be staying during his talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un this week, a Sputnik correspondent reported, adding that locals greeted the leader upon his arrival.Trump and Kim are scheduled to meet Wednesday and Thursday for their second summit on denuclearization.
Hundreds of people, many of whom were families with children, gathered along the Do Duc Duc road to welcome the US president. As the president's motorcade passed by, many of them shouted greetings and started taking pictures.
Local students stood at the very front, waving US, North Korean and Vietnamese flags.
The first summit between Trump and Kim took place in Singapore in June. During the meeting, Kim pledged to make efforts to denuclearize the peninsula in exchange for security guarantees for North Korea and the suspension of US-South Korean military drills. However, no concrete steps have been made in this direction by either party.
