BEIJING (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th February, 2019) Some members of the Chinese delegation have remained in the US capital of Washington to continue trade talks with the United States after the four-days high-level consultations ended on Sunday, local media reported on Tuesday, citing knowledgeable sources.

After the talks, US President Donald Trump announced that he would delay an increase in tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods that was originally set for March 1 and also said he would be planning a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping to conclude an agreement to end the trade standoff, "assuming both sides make additional progress."

According to the South China Morning Post newspaper, while Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, who headed his country's delegation to the talks, departed for Beijing on Monday morning, some members stayed in Washington to hold technical-level consultations.

Sources have told the newspaper that in spite of the progress reached, there were still many differences left between Washington and Beijing, including on structural matters, such as technology transfers and enforcement mechanisms.
