WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th February, 2019) The US Spanish broadcaster Univision news in a series of statements said that journalist Jorge Ramos and his team had been detained by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and then released.
"Maduro arbitrarily detains @Univision team headed by @jorgeramosnews Six journalists from Univision News were detained while interviewing Nicolás #Maduro at the Miraflores Palace and their equipment confiscated," the broadcaster said in a tweet on Monday.
A couple of hours later the Univision team tweeted that Ramos and his team had been freed.
"Happy to report @jorgeramosnews and the @Univison team have been released," the broadcaster said in a Twitter post.
Earlier, US Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Kimberly Breier in a statement said the United States had been updated on the situation and called for their immediate release.
