US Senate Foreign Relations Panel To Hold Briefing On Khashoggi Probe This Week - Chair

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th February, 2019) The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a classified briefing with the Trump administration this week over the probe into the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, panel chairman Jim Risch said in a statement on Monday.

The Trump administration came under fire for missing a February 8 congressionally mandated deadline to submit a determination on whether Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the assassination of Khashoggi who was killed in the Saudi consulate in Turkey in October.

"Members of the committee are anxious to hear, and deserve to hear, from the administration directly as this [Khashoggi] investigation continues. The administration has committed they will oblige," Risch said. "To that end, the Foreign Relations Committee will hold a classified briefing with the administration this week in relation to the Global Magnitsky sanctions."
