DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2019) Teams of the National Olympic Committee, NOC, continued visits in preparation of the 4th National Sports Day on 7th March. The event, which continues 24 hours on that day, aims to engage various community segments in multiple sports activities with a positive atmosphere of fun and pleasure.
The Department of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai welcomed NOC team headed by Talal Al Shinqeeti, the Acting Secretary-General of the committee, to heighten the importance of participation in the event held under the theme "Emirates Unites Us". The past three editions of the event had succeeded in attracting a wide spectrum of community segments of different ages who flocked in a show of love for the UAE.
"The UAE has become one of the most prominent examples of coexistence worldwide with over 200 nationalities living in harmony and unison. Launched in 2015 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the National Sports Day initiative echoes the importance of practicing sport to the life of people, rendering it a lifestyle for maintaining people’s health and fitness," said Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director of the Department of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.
"Through these initiatives, our leadership is keen on furthering the principle of tolerance with no ethnic, gender, religion or colour discrimination. They support the spirit of cooperation and team efforts to raise the profile of the country to the highest levels. The Dubai Residency Department supports the practising of sports activities amongst employees and is keen to engage them in various sporting events and groom them to raise the image of the UAE. We believe that the 4th edition of the imitative will be more successful in attracting wide public and private participants working in a team spirit," he added.
"We would like to pay tribute to the initiative of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to designate a sports day for all community segments. The sports have important role in cementing the social fabric of people living in the UAE," said Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director of the Department of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai.
The NOC team also visited the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai. The meeting was attended by several NOC members including Saleh bin Ashour, Assistant Secretary-General for Technical and Sports Affairs; Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director, Ahmad Al Tayeb, Director of Technical Affairs and Sports Affairs, and Bati Al Abdooli, Director of Performance and Development Office.
"The National Sports Day boasts of diverse events and positive values characterising our culturally diverse community. It offers a renewable event for all participants of different segments and categories to rediscover themselves, hone their skills, and engage them in positive communication in an atmosphere of positive energy and happiness," said Dr. Abdullah Al-Karam, Chairman and Director-General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai.
