WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd February, 2019) A US Federal judge denied bail to Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Hasson who allegedly plotted a mass murder inspired by Norwegian right-wing militant Anders Breivik that targeted Democratic congressional leaders and other prominent liberals, media reported.
A judge in the state of Maryland ordered Hasson to remain in jail without bail for at least two more weeks as prosecutors prepare a case against him for allegedly plotting to kill numerous Democratic politicians and journalists, NBC News reported on Thursday.
According to court documents, during a raid of his Maryland apartment last week law enforcement agents found more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition, 15 firearms and documents outlining the Breivik-inspired mass murder plot.
Originally arrested on weapons and drug related charges, prosecutors in a detention request on Tuesday described Hasson as a "domestic terrorist" who "intends to murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country."
Hasson, a self-proclaimed white nationalist, in his planning appeared to follow instructions laid out in Breivik 's manifesto to strike out at the "liberal" West. In an email that was never sent, Hasson said he was "dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth."
The documents also revealed that Hasson's hit list included Democratic lawmakers such as Chuck Schumer, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Elizabeth Warren and many liberal news hosts.
Breivik is serving a 21-year-long prison sentence for killing 77 people during terror attacks in Norway in 2011. Breivik's main motive for the attacks was to promote his far-right militant ideology.
