WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st February, 2019) US Attorney General Bill Barr is expected to announce as early as next week the completion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation, media reported on Wednesday.
Mueller will send the report on the Russia probe to the attorney general, who after reviewing it will submit a summary of the confidential findings to Congress, CNN reported, citing unnamed officials familiar with the matter.
The timing of the report is subject to change because it is unclear what scope or outline Barr will provide to Congress, as well as how long it might take Justice Department officials to prepare it, the report said.
Mueller has been investigating claims that Russia meddled in the 2016 US presidential election, as well as allegations of collusion between Trump's campaign team and Moscow for months.
Russia has repeatedly denied interfering in the election, saying the allegations were made up to excuse the defeat of Trump's campaign opponent as well as deflect public attention from actual instances of electoral fraud and corruption. The claims of collusion have also been repeatedly dismissed by both Moscow and Trump, who has called Mueller's probe a "witch hunt."
