WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th February, 2019) US President Donald Trump will urge the Venezuelan military in his Monday speech to support Venezuelan opposition parliament speaker Juan Guaido, who declared himself interim president, the White House said.
Trump is set to deliver remarks at Florida International University at 4 p.m. (21:00 GMT).
"Venezuelan military officials have a clear choice - work toward democracy for their future and the future of their families, or they will lose everything they have. The United States knows where military officials and their families have money hidden throughout the world. The military and security forces should listen to President Guaido and allow humanitarian aid into Venezuela," the preliminary plan for Trump's speech reads.
Guaido was almost immediately recognized by the United States and a number of other countries. Russia, China, Mexico, Turkey and Uruguay were among those that have voiced their support for Nicolas Maduro as the country's legitimately elected president.
