German Chancellor Angela Merkel will take part in the EU-League of Arab States (LAS) summit in Egypt on February 24-25, the German Cabinet's spokesman said on Monday
BERLIN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th February, 2019) German Chancellor Angela Merkel will take part in the EU-League of Arab States (LAS) summit in Egypt on February 24-25, the German Cabinet's spokesman said on Monday."The Federal Chancellor will take part in the EU-Arab League summit on February 24-25 in Sharm El-Sheikh," Steffen Seibert said, adding that the summit would be the first official meeting of all leaders of the European Union and the LAS.
According to Seibert, both the European Union and the Arab League seek to boost their relations. The spokesman said that a wide range of issues would be discussed during the summit, including multilateralism, trade, investments, migration, security and situation in the region.
Seibert added that during the EU-Arab League ministerial meeting, which preceded the summit, the parties confirmed importance of a close partnership to address common challenges.
The ministerial meeting took place on February 4 and was aimed at strengthening the Euro-Arab partnership and setting the stage for the upcoming EU-Arab League summit.
