NASA Plans to Buy 2 Additional Seats on Russia's Soyuz Spacecraft - Procurement Notice

NASA is planning to sign a contract with Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos for the purchase of two more seats on the Russian Soyuz spacecraft to deliver US astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 and in 2020, according to a solicitation notice posted on US federal procurement website FedBizOpps.com

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th February, 2019) NASA is planning to sign a contract with Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos for the purchase of two more seats on the Russian Soyuz spacecraft to deliver US astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 and in 2020, according to a solicitation notice posted on US Federal procurement website FedBizOpps.com.

"NASA has a requirement for crew transportation services to and from the International Space Station (ISS),"

"NASA is considering contracting with the State Space Corporation 'Roscosmos' for these services on a sole source basis for two (2) Soyuz seats and associated services to the International Space Station (ISS) on the Russian Soyuz spacecraft vehicle. This transportation would be for one crewmember in the Fall of 2019 and one crewmember in the Spring of 2020.

According to the document, "these two seats would allow for US crew presence on ISS through September 2020."
