Facebook Goes to Court Over German Anti-Trust Body's Data Gathering Restriction - Reports

Facebook lodged a complaint against Germany's anti-trust watchdog, which recently ruled to curtail Facebook's data collection in the country, German media reported on Friday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th February, 2019) Facebook lodged a complaint against Germany's anti-trust watchdog, which recently ruled to curtail Facebook's data collection in the country, German media reported on Friday.

The complaint was submitted at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf, Tagesschau outlet reported, citing the court's representative.

The anti-monopoly body ruled earlier in February that Facebook would no longer be able to assign data gathered outside the social network's own website to users' accounts.

Bundeskartellamt said the company would have to pay fines in the amount of up to 10 percent of its annual turnover if it failed to comply. In 2018, the Facebook's annual revenues reached $55.8 billion.
