MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th February, 2019) Members of the Argentine government will take part in Russia's St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, which will be held in June and September, respectively, Argentine Ambassador to Russia Ricardo Ernesto Lagorio told Sputnik on Friday.

"We expect of course our ministers to come to St. Petersburg and Vladivostok [to take part in economic forums]," the ambassador said on the sidelines of the "Economic Situation in Russia: Trends and Prognosis" conference organized by the French-Russian chamber of commerce.

The ambassador hailed the state of economic relations between the two countries and mentioned a number of joint projects that proved the mutually beneficial character of the Argentine-Russian partnership.

"Russia is investing in infrastructure [in Argentina], in the railways ... We are very rich in shale gas, and we are interested in investments in the ports too ... We are switching from relations based on the Primary sector [of economy], which is important of course, toward, I would say, a more modern relationship based on the 21st century, which [is focused on] logistics, infrastructure," the ambassador stressed, adding that Argentina was interested in further deepening the economic cooperation and diversifying it.

According to the diplomat, the most important about Argentine-Russian relations is their quality and clearly pragmatic character.

"We never joined sanctions. We will not join the sanctions, we do not believe in sanctions. We believe in a very pragmatic and non-ideological relationship. It's a question of interest, and I can point out a very good empathy between Russia and Argentina," the diplomat pointed out.

Russia and Argentina have been enjoying fruitful economic cooperation for years. Russian companies, including such giants as Russian Railways and Transmashholding, have been involved in numerous projects in the Latin American nation. In December, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the two countries had agreed to further increase trade and investment.
