WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th February, 2019) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday discussed with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian a host of issues, including countering Russia and European energy security, Department of State deputy spokesperson Robert Palladino said on Wednesday."They also discussed... countering Russia's destabilizing behavior and promoting regional energy security," Palladino said.
Palladino pointed out that Pompeo and Le Drian met to discuss global efforts in the fight to defeat the Islamic State terror group (outlawed in Russia).
The two officials also discussed the alleged role of Russia as a destabilizing factor as well as the situation in Venezuela and Libya, the readout said.
Pompeo thanked France for its efforts to hold Iran accountable for Tehran's alleged terrorist activity in Europe, the readout added.
