MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th February, 2019) At least 10 police officers were killed in a clash with Taliban militants in the northern Afghan province of Baghlan, local media reported on Tuesday citing a source.

Taliban insurgents attacked a police checkpoint in the Hassan Tal village of the Baghlan-e-Markazi district on Monday night, according to the TOLONews broadcaster.

At least four Taliban militants were also killed and another five injured during the clash.

Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the media.

Afghanistan has long been suffering from an unstable security situation. The government has been fighting the Taliban, which has been waging a war against Kabul for almost two decades, and the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia), which has been operating in Afghanistan since 2015.
