Malik Riaz’s name removed from ECL

The minister got speechless to a question that on what grounds Malik Riaz had sought the permission to travel abroad.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 5th February, 2019) Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz’s name has been removed from the Exit Control List (ECL).

Taking to media on Monday, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi said that the Federal government has allowed Malik Riaz to travel out of the country.

The minister got speechless to a question that on what grounds Malik Riaz had sought the permission to travel abroad.

Dodging the question, he said we don’t have a personal grudge with anyone. The law allows a person on ECL to travel abroad once.

He said that Malik Riaz has been allowed to go out of the country after completing all legal formalities.

The law is equal for all, Afridi said.

The Supreme Court had earlier ordered to remove Names of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Shah from the Exit Control List (ECL) in the mega money laundering and fake bank accounts case.

Several bigwigs, including former president Asif Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur, former president of Summit Bank Hussain Lawai and Omni Group's Anwar Majeed, were all nominated in the case. Property tycoon Malik Riaz and his son-in-law Zain have also been included in the probe.

Over 20 'benami' accounts at some private banks were opened in 2013, 2014 and 2015 from where transactions worth billions of rupees were allegedly made.

The amount, according to FIA, is said to be black money gathered from various kickbacks, commissions and bribes.
