ATC extends Khadim Rizvi’s judicial remand till Feb 8

A large number of TLP leaders were present outside the court for the hearing.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 4th February, 2019) The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has extended the judicial remand of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader Khadim Rizvi and others, involved in a provocative speeches and ransacking case.

Khadim Rizvi and other TLP leaders appeared before the court of Sheikh Sajjad Ahmad in the ATC on Monday upon completion of their 14-day remand.

Strict security arrangements were made inside and around the ATC on the occasion.

A large number of TLP leaders were present outside the court for the hearing.

The ATC judge ordered to extend the judicial remand of the TLP leaders till February 8.

TLP chief Khadim Rizvi was taken in protective custody in November, 2018 under section 14 and 16 Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance (MPO).

The government later decided to initiate legal action against the TLP leaders. Khadim Rizvi was charged under terrorism and treason laws after it staged countrywide protests against the Supreme Court's acquittal of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman facing blasphemy charges.

The protests had paralysed routine life in major cities of the country for three days forcing the government to sign a controversial deal.
