CARACAS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th February, 2019) Venezuela is not planning to reduce the intensity of economic cooperation with Russia, and, instead, aims to further expand bilateral ties, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said on Sunday.
"Yesterday, I met with representatives of Russian companies. Not only are we having no plans to reduce our relations with them in any way, but we will even expand them further," Rodriguez said at a press conference.
On January 23, Juan Guaido, the head of the opposition-controlled Venezuelan National Assembly, declared himself the country's interim president. The United States and a number of other countries have voiced support for Guaido.
Russia alongside China and Mexico, among others, have backed President Nicolas Maduro as the only legitimate leader of Venezuela.
