Punjab Home Secretary said that Zeeshan will be proven a terrorist, the conduct of operation will be declared wrong while suggestions will be given to take action against the responsible.
Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 31st January, 2019) The Punjab Home Department has claimed that Zeeshan, killed in the Sahiwal encounter, will prove to be a terrorist.
The Punjab Home Department briefed the Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights about the Sahiwal incident and presented the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report. The Senate committee termed the report unsatisfactory.
The Punjab Home Department admitted before the Senate that the method of Sahiwal encounter was wrong.
The committee called for suspending the JIT formed to probe the Sahiwal incident, saying as per natural law a man could not be a judge in his own case. The Senate committee demanded that a judicial commission be made to investigate the case.
Punjab Home Secretary Fazil Asghar, presenting the JIT report, said that it has not been completed yet. However, it has been established that Khalil and his family were innocent.
He said that Zeeshan will be proven a terrorist, the conduct of operation will be declared wrong while suggestions will be given to take action against the responsible.
The Senate committee then questioned under what provisions of law was Zeeshan killed and not arrested, adding if his whereabouts were known, why was he not taken into custody earlier.
As per briefing given by the police and the Punjab Home Department, Zeeshan was under observation for his alleged alliances with Adeel Hafeez, a Daesh terrorist killed in an encounter on 15 January, 2019.
