MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th January, 2019) Washington and its partners artificially aggravate the situation in Venezuela, stimulating the most radical sentiments, and the time has come to put an end to this process, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.Earlier in the day, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain declared its intention to recognize the head of opposition-controlled National Assembly of Venezuela, Juan Guaido, as interim president of the country, if new elections are not announced in the country within eight days.
"The developments around Venezuela are becoming increasingly alarming. There is information coming from a number of European capitals, about putting forward ultimatums to the legitimate authorities in Caracas � to organize, within eight days 'democratic and transparent' elections. These demands are accompanied by the threat that they would recognize opposition leader Juan Guaido as the new head of state," the statement said.
According to the ministry, Moscow has taken note that these demands were very well coordinated.
"These developments only intensify the internal political situation in our friend Venezuela. The situation is artificially heated up from outside and the most radical sentiments are being stimulated. The cynical, overt interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state continues. It is necessary to put an end to this," the ministry said.
According to the statement, Russia is ready to cooperate with other states that share Russia's approach to the situation in Venezuela in order to help the conflicting sides find mutual understanding.
