Russian, Iranian Energy Ministers Discuss Future Meeting Of Bilateral Commission- Ministry

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th January, 2019) Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and his Iranian counterpart Reza Ardakanian have discussed in a phone conversation the date for the holding of another meeting of the Iran-Russia intergovernmental commission, the Russian Energy Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

In November, Ardakanian said that the 15th meeting of the Iranian-Russian intergovernmental commission would be held in Iran in the second half of February.

"As co-chairs of the permanent Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, [Novak and Ardakanian] outlined key directions of bilateral relations in economy and trade, including cooperation in energy. Besides, the ministers have discussed another meeting of the intergovernmental commission, which will take place in Iran in the current year," the statement said.

In November, Novak said that a total of 10 working groups, including on transport, finance and energy, were operating within the framework of the intergovernmental commission. According to Novak, over the past several years Russia and Iran created a solid legal framework for bilateral cooperation, with over 50 joint documents having been signed over the period.
