MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th January, 2019) German people want to have good ties with Moscow, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said at talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Friday.
The German foreign minister is currently on his visit to Moscow. Later on Friday, Maas will fly to Kiev.
"Over past months, there have been many bilateral meetings and talks, as well as a whole range of joint initiatives, and I believe that it is the right thing to do because in Germany, in our society there is a strong need and strong demand for good relations between our counties. Through our work we will create good premises for this," Maas said.
Addressing the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations last week, Maas announced that he would travel to Russia "to seek direct dialogue," adding that Germany needed Russia as a foreign policy partner to resolve Ukrainian, Syrian, and Yemeni crises.�
