US Senator Warren Requests Information On Possible Mulvaney Ethics Violations - Letter

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th January, 2019) US Senator Elizabeth Warren requested the designated agency ethics officials at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to release information whether White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney complied with Federal ethics laws in discussing future employment opportunities.

"I am writing to request information about Director Mulvaney's reported job negotiations with the University of South Carolina, and to make sure that he is following important ethics laws intended to prevent conflicts of interest and protect American taxpayers," the letter said on Tuesday.

Warren initiated the letter after New York Times claimed in a report that Mulvaney discussed becoming president of the University of South Carolina while serving as both OMB Director and Interim Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director.

Mulvaney is currently serving as White House Acting Chief of Staff after John Kelly left this position at the end of 2018.

Warren announced in December that she will seek the Democratic Party's nomination to run for president of the United States in 2020.
