Number Of Ukrainians Traveling To Russia Fell 15% In 2018 - Infrastructure Minister

KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th January, 2019) The number of Ukrainians who traveled to Russia in 2018 has decreased by 15 percent in 2018 year-on-year, the country's Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said on Tuesday.

"In 2018, the number of passengers heading to Russia once again decreased by 15 percent ... I am glad that the Ukrainians prefer to visit the European Union without orders or other artificial measures," Omelyan told the Pryamiy tv channel.

Last year, Omelyan said that Ukraine should fully terminate the railway traffic with Russia.

Relations between Moscow and Kiev deteriorated in 2014 after Crimea's reunification with Russia and amid the crisis in eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities have accused Russia of interfering in Ukraine's internal affairs and being involved in the conflict in Donbas.

Russia has repeatedly denied the allegations, stressing that it is not party to the civil conflict in Ukraine and wanted the country to overcome its political and economic crises.
