MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th January, 2019) A US technical team is expected to pay a visit to Turkey on January 15-16 in order to express Washington's concerns over Ankara buying Russian-made S-400 air defense systems, which allegedly poses a threat to US F-35 fighters, according to media reports.
Washington has warned that if Ankara goes ahead with its plans to purchase the S-400 systems, the United States could withhold the transfer of F-35 jets to Turkey.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu refused to abandon the S-400 deal with Russia as a potential precondition for the Ankara-Washington agreement, but said that Ankara was ready to consider US proposals on deliveries of the US-made Patriot air defense systems.
