WARSAW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th January, 2019) Mayor of the Polish city of Gdansk, who was wounded by an attacker late on Sunday, underwent surgery, his condition remains very serious, one of the hospital doctors told reporters on Monday.
A man attacked Pawel Adamowicz with a knife on Sunday evening during a charity concert in Gdansk. Radio Gdansk reported that Adamowicz was stabbed in the heart. According to local media reports, doctors reanimated the mayor on the scene for a long time, then evacuated him to hospital.
"The patient is alive," the doctor said, and his words were greeted with applause.
He noted that Adamowicz is in a "very, very serious" condition. The doctor clarified that, among other things, the patient has a wound in the heart.
"The next few hours will decide everything," he concluded.
