Blast Set Off To Control Avalanche Kills 2 Resort Workers In French Alps - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th January, 2019) Two resort workers died in an accidental blast on Sunday after an attempt to trigger an avalanche at the Morillon ski station in the French Alps went terribly wrong, local media said.

The explosives went off as the experts were setting them up in the morning to spark a controlled avalanche before the slope was opened to skiers, investigators were cited as saying by Le Monde.

The prefecture of the Haute-Savoie department in the country's east warned Saturday of a 4-degree risk of avalanches on the scale to 5 after record snowfall in the mountains. Snow will continue to fall overnight into Monday, it said.
