MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th January, 2019) Implementation of the US plans to withdraw from Syria will be the right step, but it is important that the territories left by the United States come under the control of Damascus, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Friday.
"We believe that the implementation of the intention announced by Washington [to withdraw troops from Syria] would be a step in the right direction," Zakharova said at a briefing.
"We believe it is important that the territories that will be vacated after the Americans leave come under the control of the Syrian government," she said.
