MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th January, 2019) The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) is conducting the eighth Fadayeeyan Harim Velayat air drills in the country's central Isfahan province, local media reported on Thursday.The large-scale war games involve various types of fighter jets, interceptors and military transport aircraft, the drills' spokesman, 2nd Brig. Gen, Alireza Angizeh said, as cited by Iran's Tasnim news agency.
The various kinds of domestically-made bombs, missiles and armaments would be put to test during the drills, he added.
According to the spokesman, the main purpose of the drills is to reinforce the preparedness of Iranian forces.
Following the US decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and re-impose anti-Iranian sanctions, Tehran is attempting to develop domestic production of arms and military equipment. In August, Iranian Defense Minister Amir Hatami presented the country's first domestically built Kowsar fighter and announced that the Iranian Navy was for the first time equipped with a locally made ship-to-air missile system.
