Court Refuses to Cancel Voting Stations Closure in Russia Ahead of Ukraine Election -Party

A court in Ukraine has rejected an administrative claim by the Ukrainian center-left party Nashi (Ours) requesting to abolish the decision by the Central Election Commission (CEC) to shot down all polling stations in Russia ahead of the upcoming elections, Yevheniy Murayev, the leader of the party, said on Monday.

KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th January, 2019) A court in Ukraine has rejected an administrative claim by the Ukrainian center-left party Nashi (Ours) requesting to abolish the decision by the Central Election Commission (CEC) to shot down all polling stations in Russia ahead of the upcoming elections, Yevheniy Murayev, the leader of the party, said on Monday.

On December 31, 2018, the Ukrainian CEC ruled to close five voting stations where Ukrainian citizens based in Russia could vote in the upcoming Ukrainian presidential and parliamentarian elections. The Nashi party has appealed the decision in court alongside the Opposition Bloc party, whose claim has been rejected as well.

"The court has rejected our claim to cancel the CEC decision to eliminate voting stations in Russia, as we have predicted. The court cited 'unproven violation of plaintiff's rights' as the reason to reject the claim. So, court stooges believe that Ukrainian citizens' rights are not violated," Murayev posted on Facebook.

He specified that the court believed that a Ukrainian citizen would not experience a violation of his or her rights coming to a Ukrainian diplomatic institution in Russia to find no election commission, no ballot and no ballot box there, and that this would not influence election results either.

"We will seek justice on all levels: in international institutions and on the level of foreign states' leaders. The whole world should realize ... that the time of scabs and thieves will inevitably come to an end," Murayev added.

Presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for March and October respectively.
